This attractive and diverse corner of North Derbyshire contains over 350 listed buildings and 11 conservation areas. 

We require a part time Conservation Officer, who ideally has a professional qualification in conservation, architecture, planning or urban design and is a member of the IHBC or RTPI. 

The candidate will have an established track record in heritage and building conservation, preferably with experience of working in or with a Local Authority. 

An equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience would be an advantage. 

You will need experience of interpreting technical drawings, plans, reports and specifications; producing correspondence and structured reports and an ability to negotiate. 

You will have a clear understanding of what constitutes the historic environment and an ability to assess the relevant significance of its constituent parts; a good knowledge of historic building construction, materials, common defects and how to address them. 

You must also have a commitment to promoting a high quality environment and be willing to keep up-to-date with legislation, policy, guidance and best practice as they change.
