Halton Borough Council is a small unitary authority with big ideas. Can you be a positive agent for continuous improvement of the key infrastructure and connectivity in a dynamic, achieving borough that is a great place to live, learn and work?

Comprising the busy towns of Runcorn and Widnes plus the picturesque villages of Daresbury, Hale, Moore and Preston Brook, Halton offers a variety of business and employment opportunities and boasts excellent transport and communication links to help to make it a modern, progressive borough, where tradition and modern combine seamlessly. We have a proven track record of providing quality services, with connectivity, accessible transport infrastructure, and quality homes for our residents a top priority.

We have quality parks, retail and leisure facilities, alongside a choice of housing and inspiring places to learn. The borough is a centre for logistics, innovation and enterprise. With world-class facilities, many of which are the home of international companies, high-tech research and development facilities are also flourishing in Halton.

You will provide strategic leadership across a range of key Council functions, including highways and traffic, spatial planning and development control, transportation, fleet management, and risk and emergency planning. Partnership working and developing the sub-regional agenda within the Liverpool City Region are key aspects of the role.

We are seeking a highly-skilled and experienced strategic thinker, with enthusiasm, commitment and a commercial focus, along with a proven track record in driving improvement and efficiency, whilst leading the delivery of high quality outcomes within a challenging financial environment.

The role will provide you with the opportunity to join a successful leadership team, and help shape the future direction of the Borough, its partnerships and the Liverpool City Region.

Further opportunities for regeneration and employment are being supported by the Mersey Gateway, a new six-lane bridge over the River Mersey, completed in 2017 and one of largest infrastructure initiatives in the UK.
