Our Town Centre Vision
Located alongside the second largest natural harbour in the world and with world class beaches we have high ambition for the future of Poole.
Our vision is to create a modern town centre offer through delivery of our masterplans – designed to generate up to 5000 new dwellings and 1000 new jobs within Poole Town Centre. Poole is the Headquarters for RNLI, Sunseeker, Lush and Liverpool Victoria as well as being home to two world class Universities - all with their own strong ambition.
Our aim is to strengthen the business, leisure, retail and evening offer of the town centre by building upon our strong maritime heritage; facilitating new cruise and marina markets; developing new quayside
opportunities and provide other public realm to help celebrate and further communicate our culture.
Our Regeneration is already well under way with significant public investment in improving our town centre access including the Iconic Twin Sails Bridge - matched by significant private sector investor
confidence in and around the town centre. The Council now aims to use its own assets to help secure a step change in its regeneration of the Town Centre North area.
In partnership with key private sector stakeholders and a future delivery partner our plan includes for creation of a new mixed-use heart to the town centre with the offer of new public realm, quaysides, swimming pool, hotel, bus station, housing, flats, office development and food & beverage offers.
We are looking for an experienced and effective leader to plan and deliver our regeneration outcomes working closely with the Strategic Director for Place and the Head of Growth and Infrastructure. This is an opportunity to make a real difference within an ambitious local authority that has a strong vision and matching regeneration priorities.
The key responsibilities will include but are not to be restricted to:
- Lead the Town Centre Regeneration Programme and its associated Team
- Deliver the Town Centre North scheme focussing on securing a private sector partner to facilitate regeneration through a new joint delivery arrangement
- Provide leadership and shape the delivery of the wider regeneration programme
- Champion the Town Centre Regeneration delivery - reporting to both Council and LEP
- Oversee delivery of associated new town centre infrastructure
- Key Stakeholder Management leading in the communication & engagement strategy
- Support delivery of major sites in both private and Council ownership
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate must have a demonstrable track record at a strategic level in delivering regeneration through private- public sector partnership; managing multi-disciplinary teams; leading stakeholder management; proven community engagement experience and negotiation skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
