Eastleigh is nearing the end of our exciting transformation programme to innovate our services and transform the way we provide advice to customers.  The Service Delivery Directorate is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Principal Planning – Senior Specialist, and a part-time Senior Planning Specialist working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist Development Management advice, contributing to the delivery of the Council’s Housing and Development strategy.

Professionally you will be stretched however in return, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of major and other applications in our very diverse borough which has an emphasis on green issues and sustainability, whilst gaining a lot of professional satisfaction.

Essential experience required:

Honours or Postgraduate Degree in Town Planning or equivalent

Strong political awareness

Full, clean driving licence. 

Experience of working in development management on major applications

Negotiating S106 agreements 

You will also need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience of dealing with other professionals and members of the public in person and on the telephone. You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm, even when the pressure of workload is high.
