What’s the job?
The newly expanded Planning Policy team within the wider expanded planning, economic and regeneration service has a key role to play in the future of Selby district to help to deliver high quality development, place making and support sustainable economic growth. This includes helping to deliver some of the largest development projects in North Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region.
We have recently restructured our planning service to being together key disciplines and to reflect our view that planning has a key role to play in delivering our growth ambitions and high standards of development.
You will be instrumental in helping us deliver our ambition to become the best planning authority in England through a commitment to working closely and pro-actively with our customers and by a commitment to the continued improvement of our services.
You will be responsible for leading the Planning Policy team and overseeing the preparation of our local plan (PLAN Selby) which is currently being progressed to deliver the Core Strategy.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a talented, experienced and ambitious planning manager who understands the challenges of balancing key priorities and delivering complex projects on time.
You will lead an enthusiastic policy team and will work closely with our development management team, colleagues in the regeneration, community and economic development teams, as well as our partners, in a local authority with a strong commitment to good planning and development. You will be a good communicator, with strong people management skills.
