About Us

We live in a beautiful part of the world, with much of our landscape falling into an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  It’s our ambition here at East Devon District Council to keep East Devon an outstanding place to live and work.  Our appreciation for maintaining our nationally recognised high quality of life runs through the culture of our council and informs our objectives.  As well as providing great services every day, we plan carefully for a sustainable future by delivering excellent opportunities and great local homes for people.

About the role

In this interesting and varied role, you’ll assist with the process of developing and monitoring planning policy with a specific focus on built heritage and design matters.  You’ll undertake research and data collection to support the work of the Planning Policy service, prepare planning policy documents and assist in the preparation, presentation and monitoring of feedback for consultation exercises.

About you

You should have a good understanding of current and evolving Planning Policy systems, and an understanding of the Planning Policy Process.  You’ll also have an analytical and objective approach to evaluating information along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.  With a degree or equivalent in Planning or a similar subject, you’ll ideally be eligible for Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
