To enable us to deliver a step change for this part of East London we need a team that is resident-focused, insight-led, digitally-driven and commercially-minded.
We are looking for two Planning Managers to lead our North and South area teams as well as a Planning Manager to lead our Majors team. For all roles your experience will need to include negotiating and working with developers and key stakeholders. You will need to be politically astute, well organised, a first class communicator and manager as well as being commercially focussed. You will be a transformative leader and a team player. You will be an experienced Development Management Planner with excellent report writing skills and have presented to committees. You will have a relevant professional qualification and be eligible for membership of the RTPI.
For the North and South Planning Managers you will have experience of managing a team within a Development Management service either as a deputy or team leader, including signing off applications, appraisals and mentoring. You must be able to form strong collaborative working relationships with a range of public and private sector stakeholders. You will be responsible for a geographic area within the borough and will be a key point of contact for applicants, agents and stakeholders alike.
For the Majors Planning Manager you must have substantial experience leading on complex strategic application sites including associated viability and S106 negotiations. You will have experience managing officers as a principal, deputy or team leader as well as external consultants. You should have a proven track record of working creatively and constructively with applicants and local communities to ensure that the council’s planning priorities are delivered. You will be responsible for the delivery of exciting, large scale regeneration projects working closely with our regeneration and housing teams as well as the private sector.
