Planning Officer (Development Management)
The Council has a busy Development Management team dealing with a significant range and number of planning applications. It provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience dealing with a range of planning issues.
The Planning Officer’s role within the team is to deal with a variety of planning and related applications; to prepare the Council’s case at planning and enforcement appeals; and to provide professional advice to customers on development proposals. The post holder will be producing quality output in a scenario where timescales can be demanding.
You should be experienced in handling a range of planning and other related applications and appeals and should preferably hold a Degree in Town and Country Planning and/or post graduate Degree/Diploma in Town and Country Planning (or be working towards this qualification).
Good negotiating, communication and team working skills are essential and you should have a good knowledge of planning legislation and related ministerial guidance and case law. You will need to visit potential development sites across the District and do so effectively and efficiently; this will mean that a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work is essential.
