Following a fundamental service redesign of our Economy and Environment
Directorate, we are now in a position to appoint a Service Manager to provide
leadership and direction to the newly combined teams of development management
and building control. The main focus is to ensure that Wigan has an excellent
reputation as a good place to do business, and these services are key to achieving

seeking a dynamic and performance driven individual for this role. You will have
an excellent track record of success in delivering effective and efficient outcomes,
whilst maximising the potential of our ambitions.
You will need to demonstrate high levels of commercial acumen along with the
experience of working constructively with partners across public and private sectors.
You must have a successful track record of working effectively within a similar or
related environmental function, but with the ability to take us to the next level.
You will put the customer at the heart of the service, have a ‘can do’ approach, and
excellent interpersonal skills. If you have the drive, skills and knowledge to deliver on
our strategic framework whilst building business opportunities around the council’s
