Are you passionate about creating more sustainable communities?   Do you want to be working in a small and energetic third sector organisation working to make the planning process accessible and relevant to local communities?  If you share our enthusiasm for positive change in planning, we want to hear from you.

Planning Aid Wales is the charity funded by Welsh Government to help communities engage with planning in Wales.  We provide a range of impartial services including training, guidance and project support.  We are developing an exciting new community context for planning, aiming to get planning authorities and local communities working more effectively together.

This key role in our small staff team is tasked with helping local authority planning teams to engage more creatively with local communities.  You will help to provide a range of networking and support services designed to build understanding, capacity and knowledge.  You will work closely with the Engagement Officer (communities) who is developing understanding in local communities and encouraging more positive community engagement with the planning process.

We are looking for a highly motivated planner who can: provide knowledge and support network services which will generate change; co-ordinate delivery of an annual events programme, and; help develop our volunteer resource.

You will be able to communicate clearly with different audiences and have experience of working collaboratively to develop innovative solutions.  You will know about recent changes to the planning system in Wales and be familiar with the planning functions of local authorities.  Most importantly, you will have a strong commitment to community engagement in the planning process.
