A property industry networking organisation for women has appointed a senior planner to chair its Yorkshire and North East branch over the next year.

Kate Girling, a senior planner at consultancy Rural Solutions in Skipton, takes the role as regional head of Women in Property from 1 March, for one year.

Girling has been a member of Women in Property for 12 years and on the committee for three.

At Rural Solutions, Girling advises on rural developments and diversification projects.

In her new regional chair role, Women in Property says that she will help the network to address workplace issues including flexible working patterns, mentor women at all stages in their career, support women returners and promote mental wellbeing.

Girling said: “Great strides have been made in this industry, but we know work still needs to be done to challenge stereotypes, celebrate diversity, champion role models and achieve a more balanced workplace.”

She will hold the role of Yorkshire and North East Chair until 28 February 2022.
