Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership has appointed Chris Wightman as an independent planning advisor.

Wightman will work within the LEP’s CW Growth Hub – which provides support and advice for expanding businesses in the region.

He will provide planning advice to companies and work with local planning authorities and government agencies on strategic issues.

Speaking to Planning he said: “The primary focus is on businesses in the advanced manufacturing sector.

“Our account managers will help the businesses access grants and funding, but if there are any planning or property issues being faced that is a barrier to their growth, then I will step in  to help.”

Wightman originally gained a town and country planning degree followed by a two year post graduate qualification from Newcastle University.

As part of the degree course he worked on a placement at London Docklands Development Corporation.

After graduating, he joined consultancy Jones Lang Wootton as a planning consultant and after a period travelling he joined consultancy Robert Turley Associates (now Turley).

He then emigrated to Australia where he managed planning departments at two separate local authorities before moving back to the UK this year.
