Whittaker joins enforcement law specialist

Ivy Legal, a law firm specialising in planning enforcement, has appointed Neill Whittaker as a planning consultant.

Whittaker, a chartered planner, will manage the planning aspects of enforcement cases taken on by the firm, working alongside qualified lawyers.

Whittaker joins from London Borough of Waltham Forest, where he managed the enforcement team. He has also held similar positions at Hertsmere Borough Council and Runnymede Borough Council.

Speaking to Planning, he said: “If a case comes in, I would look at the planning merits of serving an enforcement notice. If that was breached, then it would be dealt with by the soclicitors.”

Whittaker gained a masters in planning policy and practice from London South Bank University in 2004.

A spokesman for the company said: “Neill’s experience has given him a valuable insight into the complexities of planning enforcement and the need for precision in determining the expediency of any enforcement action.”
