Waverley plans development management team expansion
Waverley Borough Council is looking to expand its planning team to tackle a rise in applications for major housing projects.
Interim development control manager Peter Cleveland told Planning: “In the last 18 months we've seen increasing volumes of work including more than 50 major applications for housing, some of them for 50 plus houses.
“Green belt and protected areas edge on to many of our towns such as Farnham, Cranleigh, Godalming, Haslemere and Gostrey” (pictured), so we're quite constrained."
The council looking to recruit a principal planning officer to join a development management department that currently employs 16 planners across two area teams.
“With unprecedented development pressure in the pipeline across the borough, the new recruit will work on a range of complex planning applications", said Cleveland.
