GostreyGrowing housing demand has prompted Waverley Borough Council to look to expand its planning team.

Development control manager Peter Cleveland told Planning: “A lot of major schemes are coming forward, all of them residential.

“Projects include housing on brownfield, the edge of existing settlements and greenbelt areas. Our local plan is moving forward and we have 10,000 homes allocated.

“Greenbelt and protected areas edge on to many of our towns such as Farnham, Cranleigh, Godalming, Haslemere and Gostrey” (pictured), so we're quite constrained.”

The council wants to recruit a major developments projects officer and a planning officer to add to a development control team of 16 planners.
