Warwick expands development management team to meet applications surge

A huge jump in numbers of applications has led Warwick District Council to look at expanding its development management team.

Development management team leader Sandip Sahota told Planning: “In the last 12 months we have received a phenomenal increase in planning applications.

“Our team is having to deal with 40 applications at any given time. We've had a lot of major applications, especially big housing schemes.”

The council wants to recruit a senior planning officer to expand a development management team of nine planners.

Sahota said: “This is an affluent and very desirable area and we've seen application income double in recent years.

“There comes a point when you realise you need to add more resources to be able to deliver the right standard of service.”
