Jonathan Walton has joined planning consultancy Turley as its head of engagement.
Walton, who is both a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, has become a director in charge of the firm’s relationships with community and political groups.
He joins the firm from rival consultancy Peter Brett Associates, where he was director of planning and stakeholder engagement.
Walton said: “Community and political engagement are key to creating successful development and shaping better places.
“Done well, engagement can address local aspirations, improve understanding of development options, and reduce planning risks at application stage.”
Walton, who will work out of Turley’s Reading office, has also worked as a planning and communications partner at property adviser Dalton Warner Davis, and as a planning and stakeholder engagement associate at planning consultancy RPS Group.
He possesses a master’s of philosophy in environmental planning and development and a bachelor’s degree in human geography, both from the University of Reading.
