Milton Keynes developmentA post-war new town which is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary has restructured its planning department and is looking to recruit a new planner.

Milton Keynes has grown from one of the original new towns and is expected to become the largest city in the south of England outside of London, head of development management Brett Leahy told Planning.

“We are dealing with major urban expansions and the urban renaissance agenda,” he said.

“We have restructured planning to enhance performance.

“We also need to make £250,000 budgetary savings and change the planning culture to make it more focused on delivery.”

The council is looking to recruit a planning officer in development management to join a team of around 22 planners split into two teams.
