An increase in complex planning proposals including several large urban extensions has prompted Charnwood Borough Council to seek a new principal planning officer for major developments.

Proposals for the borough, between Leicester and Nottingham, include three sustainable urban extensions, enlarging Loughborough University Science & Enterprise Park, and the regeneration of the Watermead area on the edge of the Leicester.

Customer support and performance team leader in planning and regeneration Adrian Le Cras said: “The main focus of the new post-holder will be leading major development proposals for the urban extensions but also help in the delivery of growth areas across the borough.

“This is one of the largest boroughs in the country with a high demand for housing that we need to deliver".
