Development consultancy GVA’s planning, development and regeneration division has appointed a director within its development consultancy team.

Jerry Freeman has joined the firm after more than 10 years working for CBRE where he was most recently a senior director.

He specialises in advising clients on structuring major development projects, with an emphasis on public/private schemes including residential and town centre projects.

Gerry Hughes, senior director and national head of PDR at GVA, said: “With the need to make best use of public sector land and the delivery of new housing becoming an ever more pressing issue, the demand for our approach of joining up our development, finance and planning capability is increasingly valued by our clients.

"We can now offer them even more resource and experience.”

At CBRE, Freeman advised government regeneration quango the Homes and Communities Agency on its first 500-unit private rental fund with the Berkeley Group, now sold to developer Prupim.

He also worked on structuring a deal to build a 1,900-home urban extension in Crawley, and another to create business space at an enterprise zone in Lancashire.
