Leeds law firm Shulmans has recruited a qualified planner as its new head of planning within its planning and environmental team.

Amanda Beresford joins the team after 16 years at the Leeds office of fellow law firm Addleshaw Goddard, where she performed an identical role.

Beresford said: “There is currently so much happening in the region from a planning perspective, from the Leeds Core Strategy and development of South Bank to the prospect of High Speed Two.”

Beresford gained a bachelors degree in town and country planning from the University of Leeds before qualifying as a solicitor.

She told Planning that she advises on all forms of planning, but has recently worked on a number of infrastructure projects.

She is the chair of the planning reform group at the Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and an editorial board member of the Journal of Urban Regeneration.
