Three Rivers District Council in Hertfordshire is looking to expand its development management team on the back of a rise in planning applications.
Areas team leader Joanna Bowyer told Planning: “An increase in applications, from small-scale minor works to major applications, is prompting us to look at possible expansion."
One of the major applications currently being handled by the council is for plans for more than 500 new homes in South Oxhey (pictured).
“We adopted our site allocations' document two years ago and a lot of these sites are now coming forward, leading to increased workloads.”
The council currently has 12 planners in its development management team and it is looking to expand this with the recruitment of a senior planning officer on a temporary contract to cover planning applications, pre-applications and appeals.
Bowyer said: “Initially the post will be for a year, but there maybe an opportunity to extend the contract and this will be an additional post.”
