Growing demand for enforcement work has prompted Stroud District Council to look to expand its planning team to deal with rising workloads.
Planning manager John Longmuir told Planning: “More people tend to be reporting incidents and our workload has crept up.
“The general public seems more aware of the rules and regulations and reporting more, which is perhaps one of the benefits – or otherwise - of the internet and Google.”
The council is looking to recruit a senior enforcement officer to add to the existing team of two planners.
“A lot of authorities cut back on enforcement,” explained Longmuir. “But it's important for the credibility of the planning system.
“The postholder will deal with people who have done things without planning permission or misconstrued their permission or failed to uphold conditions.”
