The South Downs National Park Authority has launched a recruitment drive following the completion of a strategic review of the organisation.

The planning authority recently completed work on its Partnership Management Plan, a document that sets out priorities for the national park’s activities over the next five years and beyond.

As a result of the review, the authority is currently recruiting for an assistant planning officer, as well as for an assistant enforcement officer.

A spokeswoman for the authority said: “We’ve recently completed our partnership management plan, so it was an opportunity for us to look at all the work that we do and the rolls that we need to support it.”

“The planning roles are new posts and they’re about improving our capabilities, particularly in terms of the enforcement officer. It’s about being able to offer a more proactive service.”

The South Downs National Park Authority was established three years ago, prior to which the area was protected by two areas of outstanding natural beauty: the Hampshire Downs and Sussex Downs.

The park is the eighth largest planning authority in England in terms of the size of the area it covers.
