William Steel has joined the Leeds office of consultancy DTZ as a planning consultant.

Steel joins the firm from City of York Council, where he has spent the past four years, serving most recently as assistant development management officer.

In his new role, he will support the planning desk within the UK development team on planning policy and development management briefs.

Keith Hardman, senior director within the team, said: “The continued growth of our UK development team in Leeds reflects DTZ’s response to our client needs and improving market conditions.”

He added that he expected the team to grow further in coming months.

The UK development team now comprises 10 staff, and Hardman said he expected that figure to grow further over coming months.

Steel became a chartered planner two years after graduating from University of Newcastle with a masters in town planning.
