Simmons joins Gillespies as partner

Landscape planning firm Gillespies has appointed Jon Simmons as a new partner, based in its Glasgow office.

Simmons is a chartered landscape architect with more than 25 years' professional experience and will focus on Scotland and Ireland.

He joins from engineering consultancy firm Grontmij, formerly known as Whitelaw Turkington, where he had been operations director since 2010.

A spokeman for Gillespies said: “Jon’s work has ranged from small environmental improvements to extensive land renewal schemes and high quality townscapes. 

“He is committed to an inclusive design process and has worked with programmes and projects requiring extensive community participation and consultation".

A past chairman of Landscape Institute Scotland, Jon represented the body on Disability Scotland’s Urban Access Group and the Scottish Landscape Practices Group. He has also been a technical adviser on the distribution of Lottery Grants.
