Scottish county appoints new planning chief

Pam EwenA Scottish council has appointed a new senior manager for planning to spearhead policy and enforcement. 

Pam Ewen joined Fife Council from TAYPlan, where she was in charge of the strategic development planning authority for Dundee, Angus, Perth and North fife.

She replaced Jim Birrell who recently retired after 44 years’ service.

Before TAYplan she spent nine years as a manager with Fife Council leading on strategic planning, economic policy and seven large strategic developments areas across Fife. 

“I am delighted to be returning to Fife to lead its planning authority,” said Ewen. “I look forward to working with colleagues in constantly improving and helping deliver a better Fife.”
