Oakham town centreRutland County Council is looking to expand its neighbourhood planning team to deal with increasing demand from local communities.

Planning policy and housing manager David Troy told Planning: “Neighbourhood planning is a growing area for us and we need an extra planner on board to deal with the workload.

“We have lots of interest from local communities and a number of plans on the go including our main town Oakham, which has one coming forward."

The council wants to recruit a planning officer in neighbourhood plans on a fixed-term 12-month contract with a possible extension.

Troy said the department currently has three planners in the neighbourhood planning team dealing with policy issues and support for local communities preparing plans.

“This post is to deal with the increasing number of local communities that are preparing their plans in Rutland", he said.
