East Sussex council expands planning policy team
Rother District Council in East Sussex is looking to expand its planning policy team.
Planning policy manager David Marlow told Planning: “One of our main issues is that many of our settlements are in an area of outstanding natural beauty (ANOB).
“It's a challenge integrating new housing with the context of an AONB. We are currently supporting nine neighborhood plans including ones for Battle and Rye".
The council, based in Bexhill-on-Sea, is looking to recruit a new senior or principal planning officer to expand a team which currently includes three planners in policy.
Marlow added that work areas may include developing proposals for major growth at Bexhill and working with neighbouring town Hastings on economic regeneration projects.
“The new postholder will also work with colleges on planning for the sustainable growth of villages as well as ongoing infrastructure projects", she said.
