Gwyn Richards has been appointed as head of design within the development management division of the City of London’s planning team.

Richards, who has worked at the corporation for the past seven years, will lead a team of design officers negotiating with developers submitting planning applications.

Richards, who has MRTPI status, said: “We will continue to challenge mediocre designs and enhance our understanding of how the City will evolve in the future so we can proactively plan for these changes. I look forward to forging a clear vision for the City’s tall building cluster and in realizing an inclusive city for all.”

Prior to working at the corporation, Richards was area design and conservation officer at Westminster City Council, and also held the same role at London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

He gained a bachelors degree in town planning from South Bank University before gaining a postgraduate diploma in the subject from the same institution.
