North Yorkshire council strengthens development management team

A North Yorkshire council is looking to boost its recently restructured development management team following a rise in development activity. 

Hambleton District Councils development manager for the north Peter Jones told Planning: “We are expanding. Pressures on work have increased as applications, especially for housing, have gone up.

“A year ago we rejigged development management into two area teams and the new postholder will be split between both teams."

Jones currently heads up the north team while Tim Wood is development manager for the south. The whole team currently totals six full-time planners.

The council wants to recruit a senior planning officer.
