Public Practice announces 24 new professionals to take up one-year council planning placements

Social enterprise Public Practice has announced a new cohort of built environment professionals to undertake one-year placements in local authority and city region planning teams.

In a statement, Public Practice has announced that 24 ‘associates’ are due to start industry-funded placements at councils across London, the East of England, the South East and the South West as well as the Greater London Authority.

It said they include experts in sustainability, conservation and heritage, planning and policy, urban design, regeneration, and community engagement.

“This multidisciplinary cohort will be tackling the ongoing, multifaceted challenge of Covid-19 recovery at a local level with their authority teams,” said Public Practice.

It added that the programme is designed to “help support associates transition into their new roles within local government as well as co-produce resources to help share and develop good practise within the industry”.

The associates who make up the new cohort are:

  • Alex Scragg, senior urban design officer, Thurrock Council
  • Anke Boehme, principal urban design policy officer, London Borough of Hillingdon
  • Antonio Rea, principal urban designer, Dacorum Borough Council
  • Bryony Henson, senior regeneration officer, London Borough of Ealing
  • Conor Morris, senior regeneration officer, London Borough of Ealing
  • Eloise Rousseau, principal policy officer, Greater London Authority
  • Hazel Mealy, principal strategy officer, Better Placed (a partnership between LB Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark)
  • Israel Hurtado Cola, regeneration sites officer, London Borough of Haringey
  • Jenny Dunn, principal regeneration officer, London Borough of Camden
  • Johnny Lui, urban designer, Watford Borough Council
  • Juliet Amoruso, design and planning officer, Dacorum Borough Council
  • Karolina Grebowiec-Hall, principal planner, London Borough of Enfield
  • Kate Beeching, programme and partnership manager, Oxford City Council
  • Kate Ridgway, programme manager, South London Partnership (a collaboration between the London boroughs of Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Richmond upon Thames and Sutton)
  • Livi Smith, community activation and engagement manager, London Borough of Waltham Forest
  • Loraine Williams, green innovation lead, Local London (a partnership of eight London boroughs in the north and east of the capital)
  • Louise Claeys, senior planning and sustainability policy officer, London Borough of Greenwich
  • Mathilde Lebreton, town centre programme manager, London Borough of Bexley
  • Mehrdad Borna, green economy policy and delivery officer, London Borough of Islington
  • Nkechi Okeke-Aru, high street recovery lead, London Borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames
  • Omri Ben-Chetrit, green infrastructure officer, Somerset West and Taunton council
  • Rebecca Eng, heritage and conservation lead, London Borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames
  • Stephen Lovejoy, planning officer/ urban designer, London Borough of Southwark
  • Yemi Aladerun, development manager, London Borough of Enfield
