Property consultancy GVA James Barr has confirmed two promotions in its planning team which have been made as a result of a growing workload.

Peter Carus has been promoted from principal planner to associate, while Tracey Hughes becomes a principal planner after serving as a senior planner.

Both have experience in producing development viability studies for the Scottish Government, city centre retail strategies, major planning applications, retail research, residential and strategic land plus master planning.

Keith Aitken, regional senior director at the firm, said the promotions confirm the continued growth in the Scottish business after GVA’s merger with James Barr in 2013.

Hughes previously worked as an assistant project manager at Adams Consulting Group and has a masters in urban and regional planning from Sheffield Hallam University, along with a bachelors in environmental policy.
