A Midlands planning consultancy is gearing up to tackle a jump in demand fuelled by the improving economy.

Oxalis Planning, based in Nottingham, acts for a range of private-sector clients with schemes across the country.

Planner Steve Harley told Planning: "Our workload has expanded greatly over the last year or so and we are expanding to help meet our current workload.

“The improving economy is driving much of the growth; there seems to be more desire to commit investment and to bring sites forward.”

He said: “Oxalis Planning is involved in a range of projects, including nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs), major mixed-use urban extensions and strategic employment sites."

However the practice was also tackling smaller development sites across the Midlands and beyond and projects were diverse, from small-scale residential proposals to town-centre regeneration.

Oxalis Planning is seeking to recruit a new planning consultant to help the practice act as lead consultant and work with developer or landowner clients to secure planning permissions.
