Hampshire masterplanA Bristol-based architectural practice is ramping up its planning focus to tackle large high-profile projects including a £150m hospital as well as campuses for universities.

The increase in the number of large projects at Stride Treglown has led the practice to expand. Schemes currently on its books include a critical treatment complex for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation.

The firm is now recruiting for a chartered town planner.

Planner and director Graham Stephens told Planning: “We are looking at residential and land promotion, office work and landmark initiatives such as Swansea Docks.

“But the hospital is very high profile and we are also seeing more work for universities. The latter sector is buoyant but challenging for clients.

“It is more competitive to attract and keep students so colleges are investing in the student experience in the form of academic and student residential facilities.”
