Office-to-residential schemeA planning and design practice that has seen a big upswing in demand for office-to-residential projects is identifying sites and properties develop.

AA Homes & Housing managing director Dr Anwar Ansari told Planning: “Recently we have been active in the office-to-residential conversions market.

“We have four projects in central Croydon with a potential for approximately 370 flats with a further 59 in Aylesbury and 99 in Basildon.”

AA Homes & Housing provides social and private housing and has a team of planners, architects and developers with a portfolio of more than 186 sites across England and Wales.

His company was entering a growth period and was starting to develop larger projects of 100 to 200 or more homes, said Dr Ansari.

He added the company had “reacted flexibly” to both government initiatives and housing market demands on the private and public sectors.

“We have further projects in the pipeline to bring more housing units to the market utilising our sites across the UK.”

The firm is seeking to take on a principal planner to lead its planning function.

Dr Ansari said in addition to working to secure planning permissions the postholder would brief directors on policy and legislative changes.
