Central Bedfordshire Council has made a senior promotion in its planning team.

Andrew Davie was promoted from head of development management to the new post of development infrastructure group manager.

He told Planning: “The post reflects more cross-directorate working; it's about delivering planning, infrastructure, acceptable development and skills, employment, growth and inward investment.”

He said the change tied in with the recent appointment of a new planning director, Jason Longhurst, and he would lead “cross cutting, multi discipline, professional teams” encompassing building control, development management, strategic planning and business performance.

Davie said his job was to help drive forward development of Central Bedfordshire; ensuring it delivered 31,000 new homes and 27,000 new jobs.

“As well as housing we are focusing on business and commercial sectors. We have Millbrook Proving Ground, strong on the high-tech sector, that is big on activity.

“We also have a new Center Parcs at Woburn Forest and the area is strong on distribution. All this brings synergies as well as a breadth of development to he area.”
