Slough Borough Council is looking to fill a new planning manager role, created as part of a departmental restructuring.

The council is creating the role along with an equivalent post to manage building control.

Both posts will report into Sanjay Dhuna, head of planning and building control.

Dhuna will retain responsibility for the department, but pass day-to-day management of the planning team to the new planning manager.

A source at the council said: “We are having a bit of a shuffle in terms of organising the teams better and creating these additional roles.”

“The changes will allow us to respond positively to the challenges of continuing to deliver high quality development and regeneration, whilst providing positive outcomes for our existing community and businesses.”

The council is seeking a candidate with strong people management skills and an understanding of the framework and culture of town planning.

Slough is currently going through a major town centre regeneration programme and the council believes it will benefit from proposals to expand capacity at Heathrow Airport, as well as the development of the Crossrail transport scheme.
