Emily Walsh has joined transport planning firm JMP Consultants as an associate director.

Walsh, who is chair of the Royal Town Planning Institute’s West Midlands Urban Design Forum, joins the firm from Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, where she was principal engineer and transport planner.

In her new role, she will lead the firm’s ‘movement and place’ workstream, which aims to integrate transport planning with placemaking.

Alan Bain, director of the firm’s Birmingham office said: "We recognise that the effective integration of transport and urban design is key to successful placemaking, which is a key objective for many of our clients."

Walsh has a diploma in urban design from Birmingham City University and has also worked at Cheltenham Borough Council and consulting firm WSAtkins.
