Derbyshire-based planning consultancy Planning and Design Practice has appointed a chartered planner to its board of directors as its managing director takes on a part-time role.

Planning and Design’s managing director Jonathan Jenkin is stepping down to work part-time in a consultancy role “in order to strike a better work/life balance”.

Michael Bamford has joined chartered planners Richard Pigott, and Jon Millhouse as a director of the consultancy. Conservation architect Lindsay Cruddas has also joined the board alongside Bamford.

Bamford has been an associate at the consultancy since September 2019. He has also previously worked as a senior planning consultant at consultancy DLP Planning.

Jenkin has spent more than 35 years working in both the public and private sector, including at the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Cornwall Council, and the Environment Agency before founding Planning and Design Practice in 2002.

Jenkin said: “The new directors are talented and ambitious, they will bring fresh drive and capability to the company. I look forward to my new role as chairman of the board, and the opportunities it presents to strengthen relationships with our key clients as well as develop new ones.”

Pigott said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael and Lindsay as directors, having worked with them both for a number of years.”
