MalcolmBraintree District Council has promoted one of its planners to the post of planning enforcement team leader.

Former planning and licensing enforcement officer Malcolm Rollerston becomes planning enforcement team leader at the Essex council.

“We are dealing with a lot of changes with the National Planning Policy Framework and there's a fair amount of movement in the policy world on issues such as temporary changes of use and unlawful development,” he told Planning.

“We are making sure we are appraised of the issues and working to ensure the council is more informed when it comes to decision making.”

He added: “We are a changing team and, like may others, it has to work with less resources. We have to be pragmatic but no less professional in dealing with matters as quickly as possible.”

Rollerston heads up a small team dealing with case work, prosecutions and appeals; monitoring, reporting and reviewing team performance. He liaises with development management officers and other departments.
