New recruit joins PBA in Manchester

Peter Brett Associates has appointed Gillian Whitfield as principal planner in its Manchester office.

Whitfield joins from West Lancashire Council where she had served as assistant strategic planning and implementation manager since January last year.

Her new role will involve preparing and submitting planning applications for retail, residential, supported living and mixed-use development schemes.

She had worked her way up to the role after joining the council in 2008 as an area planner, subsequently becoming a planner and then a principal planner.

Bernard Greep, equity director and head of PBA’s Manchester office, said: “We have an increasingly strong pipeline of work including a wide range of projects for national house builders, landowners, investors and retail clients, and we are pleased that Gillian will help us deliver these projects.”

Whitfield has a master’s deree in environmental planning from Liverpool John Moores University along with a bachelor’s in geography and environmental sciences from Liverpool Hope University.

The appointment brings the number of fee earners in the Manchester office to 25, he said.
