An urban design consultancy has taken on a new planner to help strengthen its focus on large scale housing projects.

Vicky Payne joined Urbed last week from Hallam Land Management and will work on upcoming masterplanning projects in Sunderland, Nottingham and Sharpness.

She told Planning: “Housing is the big issue right now and will be for time to come. I will be working on a proposal for a garden city in the west Midlands.”

Payne, who graduated with a masters in town and country planning at Manchester University, will focus on urban design, community involvement and heritage.

She is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute north-west Young Town Planners group where she is responsible for promotion and social media.
