Rail operator Network Rail’s property division has appointed Helen Hodgson as town planner covering Wales.

Hodgson, who joined Network Rail Property in March, is responsible for any town planning issues that arise in relation to redevelopment or modernisation of the organisation’s buildings and rail infrastructure across Wales.

Prior to joining Network Rail Property Hodgson was a senior planning consultant at consultancy Boyer Planning's Cardiff office for six years, where she worked on projects such as Taylor Wimpey’s Park Road development in Keynsham, Somerset.

Hodgson started her career as a planning officer at Cardiff County Council before moving to the Vale of Glamorgan Council as a senior planning officer.

Before entering the private sector she returned to Cardiff County Council as a senior planning officer, where she worked on major city centre regeneration initiatives such as the St David’s 2 retail-led scheme.

Hodgson holds a BSc in Geography from Loughborough University, as well as a masters in town planning from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
