Neaves elected to chair Urban Design Group

Katy Neaves, head of visual impact assessment at planning consultancy Turley, has been elected chair of campaigning organisation the Urban Design Group.

The group exists to raise standards in the built environment, with members drawn from disciplines including architecture, highways civil engineering, conservation, landscape architecture, town planning and development.

Neaves has been a member for more than a decade and has sat on its executive committee since 2010.

She said: “Over the next two years I will focus on strengthening our regional membership, educational and our younger members.”

In her role at Turley, Neaves is responsible for identifying the impact of new development on the wider landscape or urban setting.

She trained in urban environmental design and previously worked as senior urban designer at landscape architect Allen Pyke Associates.
