A national park authority has expanded its planning team to help it promote sustainable economic development.

Cairngorms National Park Authority's new planning officer Katie Crerar joined from TAYplan, the strategic development planning authority for the Dundee City region

Head of planning Simon Harrison told Planning: "Our team at the park authority is in the final stages of restructure following relocation from Ballater to Grantown on Spey.

“We are embarking on the preparation of a new local development plan aimed at delivering sustainable economic development.

“However we will also be maintaining the appropriate balance with conservation in this outstandingly beautiful national park.”

Crerar told Planning: “Cairngorms National Park Authority provides a unique opportunity to work within and understand the challenges of planning and policy making within a highly sensitive area.

“Being such a small organisation and team means I’ll be involved in a range of topic areas and projects, working alongside in-house expertise, local authorities and organisations in the park.”

The expansion of the planning team will also include two new members of staff, who are due to join the organisation within the next few months.
