Murray takes up Walthamstow growth position

The London Borough of Walthamstow has appointed Stewart Murray as strategic director of economic growth.

In a statement, Waltham Forest Council said that Murray will lead on property, asset management, regeneration planning and development, and will work on schemes, including the redevelopment of the council’s town hall campus, the delivery of a new town centre at Lea Bridge/Leyton and the delivery of 17,000 new homes in 10 years.

Murray is currently head of the development group at consultancy GL Hearn.

He has had a career in the public sector spanning 30 years, working in four other London boroughs and the City of London Corporation.

Murray will begin the new role on 1 May 2018.
