Simpson appointed to transport institution role

Transport planner Sarah Simpson has been appointed as vice chairman of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) East Anglia Branch.

Simpson has worked as a senior transport planner at the Cambridge office of consultancy Transport Planning Associates since August 2013.

She gained chartered engineer status through the institution in 2009 and has been active within it since originally gaining membership in 2003.

The CIHT has more than 12,000 members working across a range of disciplines to share best practice, improve policy formulation, stimulate debate on transportation issues and provide training.

Simpson has a masters in transport planning and engineering from Leeds University.

She previously worked Mott MacDonald as a senior engineer in Norwich from September 2008 to September 2012, where she worked on the London 2012 Olympics

Prior to that, she worked at WYG Group in Norwich and Leeds and Grontmij in Leeds.
