Mendip District Council is currently undergoing a recruitment drive to deal with applications for residential and commercial development, and to help drive forward a local development order.

The council is currently looking for a principal economic growth planner and a senior planner on the back of what it says is sustained investor confidence in Mendip.

The new recruits will deal with applications for residential and employment development, and will help drive forward a local development order for a strategically important employment site.

Matt Williams, planning team manager at Mendip District Council, told Planning: “The continued pace of applications for residential and commercial development demonstrates the confidence in Mendip as an attractive place to invest and we need to ensure that appropriate resources are in place to respond to these demands in a positive and proactive way.

“These demands coincide with a number of actions that have recently been taken to improve the speed and quality of decision-making and the successful candidates will be instrumental in shaping a re-focused approach to service delivery.”
