Consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton is aiming to move further into residential work in the wake of its acquisition by the Countrywide estate agency and property services group in September 2013.

Acknowledging the combined impact of the takeover, Mark Dodds, the company’s national head of planning, said it had brought new resources to the business.

“Our partnership with Countrywide is giving us more opportunities in planning, because of their connections into the residential industry,” he said. “We have hitherto been basically a commercial team, but we are spreading our wings into much more residential work now and there is much more opportunity for that.”

The expansion in residential work is focused on general residential development and associated residential planning, while there are also moves to grow or bolster the company’s work in affordable housing and viability assessment, Mr Dodds explained.

The company is currently recruiting a senior planner.
